About NITRD
The National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases (NITRD) started from a humble beginning as a TB Hospital in 1956.It became an institute in 1991 and was glorified with its National status in 2013. The indomitable spirit of its leaders and the dedicated staff along with immense support of the Government of India and the Governing Body of the Institute, the Institute has achieved not only national but also international stature in patient care, training and research.
The Institute provides expert medical care for patients with tuberculosis as well as other respiratory disorders. We have a 470 bedded hospital and an Out Patient Department with an average attendance of 600 patients per day. In addition to our daily TB & respiratory OPD, we have specialized clinics for lung cancer cases, HIV medicine, sleep medicine, allergic disorders, tobacco cessation and pulmonary rehabilitation. Our Thoracic Surgery department is one of its kinds in the country with patients being referred even from neighboring countries.
