AFCAT 2019 Notification Application Form Released

AFCAT 2019 : registrations are open now. Indian Air Force has released notification for AFCAT 1 2019 on December 1, 2019. AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) is a recruitment examination organized by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The examination is held twice a year in the months of February and August, applications to which are made available in December and June respectively. Airforce aspirants who want to join the flying, technical and non-technical branch of the Indian air force can apply for AFCAT 1 2019 now from the official IAF portal of AFCAT.

AFCAT 2019 Examination can be taken by both Male and Female Candidates who have completed their Graduation. AFCAT is officer recruitment gateway in 3 branches of Air Force – Flying Branch (Short Service Commission only), Technical branch (Permanent & Short Service Commission) and Ground Duty Branch (Permanent & Short Service Commission).

Online examination will be conducted on 16 Feb 19 and 17 Feb 19 for AFCAT exam. Candidates applying for AFCAT 1 2019 should ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Their admission at all the stages of examination viz. Written examination and SSB test will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

According to AFCAT eligibility criteria, only Indian citizen can apply for the exam. The age limit prescribed for Flying Branch is 20 to 24 years while that for Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch is 20 to 26 years as on January 1, 2020. The minimum educational qualification required for AFCAT is graduation. The academic qualification varies as per the branches.

The online test of AFCAT consist of four sections – General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. Duration of the test is 2 hours. Maximum marks allotted for the test are 300. Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT) which is held for Technical Branch comprises of Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical & Electronics. Total marks allotted for EKT are 150.

Air Force Common Admission Test is conducted to select candidates as Group A Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches of Indian Air Force.

AFCAT 2019 Educational Qualifications

Flying Branch

Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and

(a) Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

(b) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

OR

(c) Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent

Ground Duty (Technical) Branch. (aa) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}. Candidates with a minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches

(ab) Accounts. B.Com Degree (Minimum three years degree course) from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

(ac) Education. MBA/ MCA or MA/ MSc degree in English/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Statistics/ International relations/ International Studies/ Defence Studies/ Psychology/ Computer Science/ IT/ Management/ Mass Communication/ Journalism/ Public Relation with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together in Post-Graduation (Minimum two years programme) and 60% marks in graduation, (both recognized by UGC/ Competent Accreditation Authority). For integrated courses (single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry), the minimum duration must be as per prevailing UGC guidelines with a minimum of 50% marks in
aggregate of all papers put together.

NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch): NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01 Jan 17 is mandatory. Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2. Graduates with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. OR BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent OR Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

Meteorology: Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics/Geography/Computer Applications/Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography/Meteorology/Agricultural Meteorology/Ecology & Environment /Geo-physics/Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in each).

Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: 20 to 24 years as on 01 Jan 2020 i.e. born between 02 January 1996 to 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive).Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. born between 02 January 1994 to 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive).

Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as on 01 Jan 2020 i.e. born between 02 January 1994 to 01 January 2000 (both dates inclusive).

Candidates belonging from Gorkhas, hills of North,
Eastern region of India, Garhwal, and Kumaon, the minimum acceptable height will be 5 cms less.

Candidates belonging from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height will be 2 cms less than what is applicable to men and women respectively).

Visual Standards for AFCAT 01/2019:

  • 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia. Manifest Hypermetropia must not exceed +2.0D Sph, Myopia – Nil, and Astigmatism +0.75 D Cyl (within +2.0 D – Max)
  • Near Vision N-5 each eye.
  • Color Vision CP-1(ML T).

AFCAT 2019 Admit Card

  • The admit cards will be made available on the official website through online mode only.
  • AFCAT 2018 (1) hall tickets shall be available from the 2nd week of February 2019.
  • Similarly, admit cards for AFCAT 02 2019 shall be available from 1st week of August 2019.

AFCAT 2019 Exam Pattern

For the preparation of the examination, a candidate should go through the exam pattern first. By going through the exam pattern candidate will get an estimate about the marking criteria.

AFCAT 2019 Result

AFCAT result 2019 will be declared in the month of April 2019. Candidates will be able to check their result online on the official website of AFCAT. Those who will qualify the written exam will be invited to attend SSB/Interview. The final result will be prepared on the basis of candidates overall performance in written exam and interview etc. The selection of the candidates depends on the candidate’s performance in the exam including physical fitness. Accordingly, the competent authority will declare the final result.

AFCAT Selection Process

  • As already stated above, candidates first need to appear in the written test.
  • Candidates will be shortlisted for next round of selection as per their rank secured in the exam.
  • The competent authority on the basis of written exam performance will invite candidates for Screening Test i.e. Stage-I Testing.
  • The screening test consists of Officer Intelligence Rating Test and Picture Perception and Discussion Test.
  • After qualifying the Stage-I, candidates will be called for Stage-II Testing.
  • Stage II testing consists of Psychological Test, Group Test to check the candidate’s interactive ability, conversation skills etc.
  • Those who will qualify the SSB/Interview will be selected for medical examination before offering the final letter of joining.
  • Selection will be made purely on the basis of merit prepared on the basis candidate’s performance throughout the exam.
